My name is Scott Chacon and I am running for Congress in the East Bay area of CA (CA-11). I
posted here quite a while ago when I was first considering running. I have now put live a website based on new open sourced code that incorporates many of the ideas I had written of back then, and I would like your help with testing it.
This software does the following things :
- Open Schedule - anyone can schedule the candidate first come, first served
- Call Me - sign up to get a personal call from the candidate
- Phone Banking - a distributed phone bank and script for contacting voters and allowing the caller to schedule meetings between the called and the candidate.
- Tell Others - send emails to your friends telling them about our campaign
- Account Feed - See donations and expenditures in near real time, via RSS
- Discussions - Start a discussion and subscribe to the feed to keep up to date with it
We aim to give back to the progressive community. Help us make this a powerful free tool for all candidates in 2006 and moving forward.
You can see it in action at : http://www.jointheconversation.org
This is just what we've gotten done so far. We're just about to release cutting edge precinct captains software where you can adopt your precinct online, print walking lists to contact your neighbors, go through call lists confined to the precinct, see your progress, etc.
The best part, and the reason I ask for everyone's help, is that this software is open source - which means that anyone can download the code and use it for thier own campaign. If you help me test this and make it successful and useful, it will be a tool that dozens of other candidates and causes can use in the future for free.
This race is heating up and I am running a very different type of campaign from my primary opponents. I will be posting here often in the future - I would like to see this campaign produce tools and software that can help improve politics for everyone, and I need your help to make that happen. Please explore the website, let me know what is easy or hard to use, what does and doesn't work, and what I may have broken. This software is the foundation of a very different type of campaign and candidate and I need your help to make it happen.
Thank you,
Scott Chacon
